BIRDS AND EXOTICS:
Dr. Alcorn has experience in the daily practice of avian and exotic medicine and surgery for over 20 years. Dr. Alcorn is a member of The Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV) and attends numerous annual teaching seminars and symposiums.
Avian experience includes caged birds (finches, parakeets, cockatiels, parrots, cockatoos and macaws) and flock birds (geese, ducks, chickens, guinea fowl, peacocks, swans and raptors). Exotic pets include lizards, turtles, snakes, rodents, ferrets, and pot belly pigs.
SENIOR / GERIATRIC PROGRAM:
For all pets 7 years of age or older we recommend several special tests that can help diagnose some of the common old age problems in pets which do not produce outward or observable symptoms of diseases. Such diseases include: heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease, lung disease and other age related problems. Even if your pet displays no symptoms of disease the aging process produces internal changes causing disease. We need to discover and prevent problems before they begin.
SKIN DISEASE:
Our hospital tests for allergies to fleas, food or vegetation to determine the origin of the pet's itchy problems to better treat your pet. We provide the most current information and home treatments for pets with fleas.
ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY:
Dr. Alcorn has considerable experience and skill in many areas of orthopedic surgery. His experience includes bone plating, screw/pin/wire technique, knee ligament surgery, external bone fixation and hemimandibulectomy for jaw cancer.
CANCER TREATMENT:
Some cancers require surgery or biopsies, while some require chemotherapy. Chemotherapy treatments for cancer require special instrumentation and medication. This hospital provides the latest in drug treatments and surgery for many kinds of cancer.
SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT AND SERVICES:
Radiology includes a new, Eklin Digital X-ray Machine for high quality radiographs, fast results and a much less traumatic experience for your pet.
Ultrasound to evaluate abdominal organs for biopsy and heart for analysis of function.
EKG or Electrocardiogram to analyze heart electrical activity.
Monitoring Equipment or Anesthesia Monitoring:
Critical Care includes a premier, human infant, Incubator and Oxygen Treatment system for very sick or injured pets.
Indirect Ophthalmoscope is used to examine the retina of a pet's eyes to evaluate vision.
Intravenous Infusion Pump for accurate, constant delivery of fluids.
Intravenous Syringe Pump provides accurate delivery of small doses of medication over a prolonged time.
Radiosurgery is a new superior non-scalpel method of cutting skin or tissue which controls blood loss. This Radiosurgical Unit is used for most all surgeries but especially for avian/exotic pets or plastic surgery.
Endoscopy and Arthroscopy is performed with an Endoscope. This specialized equipment is used to investigate the nasal passages, trachea, esophagus and stomach for removing foreign material or to biopsy tissue. Valuable biopsies and organ evaluation can be made without the need for major surgery.
In House Laboratory for (CBC) Complete Blood Count, Blood Profile (for internal organ analysis), Urinalysis and Fecal Analysis. Our laboratory provides immediate results of blood testes needed to help analyze your pet's disease and provide the doctor with valuable information to better treat your pet.

The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) is an international association of more than 36,000 veterinary care providers who treat companion animals.
Established in 1933, AAHA is well known among veterinarians and pet owners for its standards for hospitals and pet health care. Accredited hospitals voluntarily participate in the AAHA hospital evaluation program. Consultants regularly visit these hospitals to ensure compliance with AAHA's standards for services and facilities.
The standards developed and published by AAHA are widely accepted as representing those components of veterinary practice that represent high quality care. The standards are periodically reviewed and updated to ensure that they remain consistent with evolving knowledge and technology.
Accreditation helps veterinary hospitals stay on the leading edge of veterinary medicine and provide the quality and range of services you and your pet deserve.
